John “Jack” Fitzgerald Kennedy (1917 – 1963) WWII U.S. Navy Lieutenant, Pulitzer Prize Winner, Congressman, Senator, 35th President of the United States of America

Jack was an agnatic descendant of Niall Mor Noígíallach of the Nine Hostages (380 – 454) High King of Ireland who reigned in Ireland as the 126th High King. The advent of the High Kings of Ireland stretches back in Irish history to the 17th century B.C.

The first direct descendant of Uí Néill lineage to rule in what is present-day western Scotland was Cartain, Lord of Isles (Hebrides). He was the direct ancestor of Crínán of Atholl, Lay Abbott of Dunkeld (980 – 1045) Primogenitor of the Dunkeld Dynasty, the primogenitor of the Dunkeld dynasty that ruled Scotland almost continuously from 1034 to 1290.

The FitzGeralds, paternal ancestors of Jack’s mother, Rose Kennedy (1890 – 1995), came to Ireland as feudal lords after the Norman-Plantagenet conquest of most of the northern half of the country during the latter half of the 12th century. Known as the Gherardini, the main lineage originally hailed from Tuscany, Italy.

Cnut the Great, King of Denmark, Norway, and England (994 – 1035) recruited Otterus, Baron of Gherardini, Lord of Tuscany during a visit to Florence. He later employed him as a knight to quell civil unrest and nobility revolt against his rule in Normandy. His grandson, Other Geraldinum (Gherardini of Tuscany) Baron of Windsor (died after 1078) was one of the proven knight companions of William the Conqueror at the Battle of Hastings.

In 1210 Thomas FitzMaurice FitzGerald (1145 – 1213), 3rd great-grandson of Otho Dominus Geraldinum, marched into Connacht to claim rulership of the former Irish province. By the end of the 14th century, the FitzGeralds and the de Clares consolidated their political dominance of southern Ireland to include all but the southern region of County Munster. By the time of Elizabeth I Tudor, Queen of England & Ireland (1533 – 1603)‘s claim of England’s sovereignty over Ireland, the FitzGeralds and the Clares were the ipso facto rulers of the country.

Jack’s support of the Apollo program initiated a new era of science and technology. The rapid advance in computer science is just one clear example of the program’s contribution to posterity. Apollo might not have gotten off the ground at all had Jack not had the prescience of mind to understand its importance to America’s prestige and welfare.

Both U.S. Presidents George Washington (1732 – 1799) and William James McKinley (1843 – 1901) were also Crínán’s and Niall’s agnatic descendants; President Ronald Wilson Reagan (1911 – 2004) was Niall’s agnatic descendant. All except George Washington were subjected to assassination conspiracy; although George would have been a favorite target for the Redcoats.

He’s ranked #81 in Hart’s Most Influential People in History – Top 500 List (125).

Steven Wood Collins (1952 – ) Antiquarian, Genealogist, Novelist

By Steven Wood Collins

I spent most of my life unaware of my ancestral heritage. Sure, I knew of the personal history of my more immediate relatives; but beyond that, I never had any inkling as to my ancestral heritage. Then one day many years ago my sister said to me, “I sometimes wonder about our family background.” And so my quest to discover our genealogical roots commenced.

I started building my family tree with the very basic relationships, going back in time from my grandparents, one ancestor at a time. That initial effort proved to be the hardest part of the pursuit, mainly due to my lack of expertise as a novice genealogical researcher. As I gained familiarity with the databases and how to efficiently mine them, my progress gained ever-increasing momentum. Today, The Patricians! tree (Ancestry.com) contains nearly 120,000 individuals, stretching over 135 generations, 5,800 of which are my direct ancestors in a genealogical sense.

During this trek back in time, I encountered fascinating figures in both history and obscurity. This blog contains many stories about their genealogical relationship to me (and many of you). By far and away, as a student of history, the historically obscure individuals are of particular interest to me. I cite Baron “Blue Beard” Montmorency-Laval de Rais (1405 – 1440) as an example of a historically maligned personage whose real contribution to history, as both a playwright and hero of France, has yet to be properly recognized. Another example is Earl Edward de Vere (1550 – 1604), who’s yet to gain widespread recognition as the actual author of the body of literary work wrongly ascribed to William Shakespeare (1564 – 1616).

My life-long interest in international economics and finance continues unabated. I primarily demonstrate this professional involvement as a contributor to the Long Room, the members-only international finance professionals' forum hosted by the Financial Times of London.

I'm an avid recreational scuba diver who enjoys traveling to exotic dive sites. My love of the sea and marine life gives me an unbounded appreciation and support of “green” issues, especially those devoted to the conservation of endangered species and coral reefs.

He continually posts results of his personal genealogical research to his Goodreads Authors Blog. Entitled The Patricians - The Ancestral Heritage of Steven Wood Collins, the work represents thousand of hours of his research efforts and related commentary.
